Planning guidance: Liquefaction hazard desk study for Hamilton City
18 September 2019
New Zealand
Presented by John Brzeski
Engineering Geologist, Tonkin & Taylor
Following revisions to the RMA, particularly section 106, Hamilton City Council recognised the need to understand the liquefaction hazard in their area. They engaged Tonkin and Taylor to undertake a desk based liquefaction hazard study to help guide their planners in understanding the risks and to enable them to ask more targeted questions of submitters.
John Brzeski of Tonkin and Taylor was the lead author of the study. John is an Engineering Geologist and a relative newcomer to New Zealand having arrived 3 years ago from the UK where he worked in London for Halcrow on large capital projects such as Crossrail and the London Olympic Park Regeneration Project.
