The NZGS helps organise a number of conferences. Our plans include the following:

2021 – Climate Change and Geotechnics Symposium

Project lead / conference convener: Tania Williams

NZGS management committee lead: Jen Smith

Core team: Richard HeritageRoydon NutsfordElizabeth CookMartin LarischAmelia HorneSenthuran ArulananthamKatie Symons

Programme: Conference tentatively planned to be over one day in September 2021

The aim of this symposium is identifying how the geotechnical sector can play its part in meeting our national targets for greenhouse gas emissions, and how we can adapt our projects for climate change. We expect this to be a relatively low-key series of one-day events, with invited speakers from a range of backgrounds and some discussion sessions. There are big changes coming to the construction sector, driven by central government requirements, which will impact on all our projects. These sessions are intended to work out how ready we are, and define what we need to do to prepare.
