Join the Geotechnical Society Gisborne Branch and Merrick Taylor to discuss geotechnical aspects related to the Gisborne Wastewater Treatment Plant Stage 2 Upgrade Project.

Gisborne District Council is upgrading their Wastewater Treatment Plant in Awapuni, Gisborne to meet consenting requirements and provide environmental and sustainability benefits.

As part of the current works a series of new plant will be added, including pump stations, clarifiers, filtration and UV disinfection, solids processing, storage and loadout facilities and associated civil infrastructure. The presentation will focus on geotechnical aspects of the design of the plant, including the selection and design of the ground improvement solution to achieve GDCs seismic resilience objectives.

Merrick Taylor is a chartered geotechnical and seismic engineer (CPEng, IntPE) and Senior Associate with consultants Beca, based in Auckland. He holds an MSc and PhD and has more than 15 years in geotechnical practice in NZ and abroad, on a wide range of infrastructure, maritime, industrial and building projects.
