14th NZGS/AGS Young Geotechnical Professionals Conference

The New Zealand Geotechnical Society (NZGS) and the Australian Geomechanics Society (AGS) are excited to invite our young geotechnical professionals to attend the 14th Young Geotechnical Professionals Conference (14YGPC) in Rotorua New Zealand from the 2nd to the 5th November 2022.

The 14YGPC is for geotechnical professionals under 35 years old with 10 or fewer years of experience in the geotechnical field. All attendees are required to present a technical paper on any topic of interest / experience relating to the field of geomechanics or geotechnical engineering or engineering geology.

Rotorua is renowned for its geothermal activity, adventure tourism, and Maori culture with world class mountain biking, geyser activity, and spectacular scenery. Come and join us for some fun by the lake, the chance to network with your peers, get some valuable mentoring advice, and learn about the unique engineering challenges in a volcanically active area.

Abstracts and Nominations

Nominations of delegates must be supported by a senior mentor and include an abstract of 250 words on a topic that is related to geotechnical practice or research.

Positions are limited to approximately 50 attendees. Successful nominations will be selected based on the quality and relevance of the abstract.

All successful nominations will be required to submit a technical paper prior to the conference, which they will then present at the conference. The Don Douglas Youth Fellowship Award and the Young Geotechnical Professional Fellowship will be awarded to the best Australian paper and the best New Zealand paper, respectively, during the conference.
