NZGS and SESOC are pleased to invite you on a jointly organised presentation on Kaitoke Pipe Bridge, which conveys 50% of freshwater to the Wellington Region.
This new arch pipe bridge is designed to withstand seismic events by allowing some displacement at the deck supports with respect to the abutments. This, together with the Ductile Iron Pipe rotation capacity around its joints prevents irreparable damage on the bridge and the pipe under events greater than the design seismic events. The presentation will also discuss the numerical simulations carried out to investigate the resilience of the bridge and the soil-structure interaction using Performance-Based Design principles and methods under various earthquake events.
