Presentation abstract
The continuously growing demand for mobility places increasing requirements on the safety and availability of road infrastructure. Within this system, tunnels play a particularly critical role. Risk-based evaluation approaches therefore offer a valuable means to optimize tunnel availability while ensuring compliance with safety requirements for tunnel users. Quantitative risk analysis serves as a powerful tool to identify the most efficient, project-specific measures for ensuring reliable and safe tunnel operation.
In this lecture, Bernhard will introduce the concept of risk-based decision-making, share insights from the application of the Austrian tunnel risk model, and provide an outlook on potential future developments.
