The Northland Allochthon forms more than two thirds of the rocks in the Northland region and extends south as far as Auckland. Although typically undulating with gentle slopes, the Northland Allochthon is known for slope instability problems that pose particular hazards to roading development.
Aaron George is a Principal Engineering Geologist with WSP Opus and has been working in the Auckland and Northland regions for 25 years. Aaron has co-authored, with Glyn East, several papers on engineering in the Northland Allochthon terrain that has been presented at NZGS conferences and for NZTA
