He has 20+ years of experience in New Zealand, the Pacific, Africa and the Middle East. He specialises in soil-structure interaction, finite element modelling, geotechnical seismic design and earthquake engineering. Ayoub is passionate about collaboration and innovation in engineering. He is a steering member of the Technical Excellence Group at ENGEO (NZ, AU and USA). I am a geologist and geographic information systems (GIS) analyst who specialises in the structural interpretation of geology related to mineral deposits and neotectonics as well as exploration-related tenement and spatial database management. I aim to contribute and develop my knowledge and skills in geology, commerce and GIS in the geoscience and energy industries. In particular I aim to develop exploration strategies and data management systems; use structural geology and spatial modelling to provide companies with a competitive advantage through predictive analysis; and undertake integrated and interpreted mapping in 2D and 3D to better understand mineral systems. I am a Geotechnical Engineer with 4 years’ experience with T+T in the Auckland and Wellington offices. I have worked on many geotechnical and projects all over New Zealand and the Pacific Islands for clients in both the public and private sector. I have consistently delivered successful projects where my responsibilities include scoping and budgeting, client liaison, coordinating investigations, design, contractor engagement and tender administration, construction monitoring and reporting. I am a geophysical scientist by training with interests in engineering geology and natural hazards. I completed my degree and a geotechnical engineering internship in the UK before moving to Wellington where I previously studied for a year at Victoria University, with modules in geology, geophysics and climate. I now work at WSP as a Graduate Geoscientist in the Risk and Resilience team, where I work primarily on projects relating to transportation infrastructure (slope stability, route resilience), landslides (following natural hazard events), and residential infrastructure (residential-scale geotechnical assessments). These projects are typically for national and local authorities.

Graduate Engineering Geologist at AECOM

I started my career 28years ago as a construction material tester in a geotechnical consultancy in Germany where I led the geotechnical laboratory as well as the field drilling teams. Further education awarded me with an engineering degree. This was followed by work as independent geotechnical project advisor and consultant. I then took on roles as project and product manager for a large cement producer in Germany and Switzerland (HOLCIM), where I helped to develop and establish products for geotechnical applications across Europe. My responsibilities included training the national sales leaders as well as the technical product development and introduction of product production. Following this, I worked as a senior geotechnical consultant for a geotechnical consultancy (BLP) in Dublin. There I was responsible for many contractor (D&B) designs for deep retaining walls and pile foundation design in Dublin’s CBD and large scale rock slope engineering projects. I obtained my chartered title in Ireland. I started with AECOM in Dublin as a Principal Engineer. This role saw me engaged in large scale rock slope assessment and stabilisation projects and in several windfarm projects. In 2010 I transferred to AECOM’s New Zealand branch to establish and lead AECOM’s Geotechnical Group in Wellington and I was responsible for geotechnical design issues, reviews, project management, major project design lead and management and the support of the development of the Ground Engineering and Tunnelling Sector in New Zealand. I became Associate Director at AECOM in 2011. In February 2017 I started my current role as Technical Director at Holmes consulting Group. Here I am responsible to improve the interface between the structural teams and the geotechnical disciplines. This mainly involves project support, communication between geotechnical subconsultants and structural engineers, review of geotechnical designs, geotechnical design, and provision of internal seminars for the various offices. I specialize in alternative designs with regards to efficiency and constructability. Mentoring and development of the ground engineering capacity at Holmes also are amongst my current responsibilities.
