Presented by Dr. Jim Oswell

Dr. Jim Oswell is a geotechnical consultant and permafrost specialist from Canada. He is in involved with the Scott Base redevelopment for Antarctica New Zealand, led by WSP Opus. He will be presenting a special talk on the design of foundations in permafrost conditions.

 

Jim will also touch on case studies of pipeline distress in landslides which has been a significant part of his career.

 

Dr Oswell is also a past Vice President of the Canadian Geotechnical Society, past Chair of the Canadian National Committee of the International Permafrost Society and has served on many committees and working groups, including the Canadian Standards Association. He is the author or co-author of over 30 technical papers.
