Recent announcements

Dear NZGS members,


Management Committee 2010
The new Committee was confirmed at the AGM on Tuesday 1st March 2010.  The two new Committee members are Charlie Price from Christchurch, and Sjoerd Van Ballegooy from Auckland. Two members leaving this year are Richard Young, our Treasurer, whom we thank for being such a great Treasurer, and Ann Williams, our Immediate Past Chair, whom will be continuing her role with the IAEG Congress – she also leaves the Committee with many thanks for such hard work for NZGS.

Our new Treasurer is David Burns, adding to his role as Vice-Chairman.

 
Richard Wolters Prize
The Committee also announced at the AGM, that the New Zealand nomination for the Richard Wolters Prize will be Kate Williams. Kate’s nomination will now be made to IAEG who will choose 16 candidates (from potentially 67 countries) to make their  final presentations in Auckland in September at the IAEG Congress. We wish Kate the best of luck for the next stage of the process!
 
The Management Committee also wish to particularly thank all those members who sent in applications for this award.


LOGO Competition reminder
We have received 8 entries so far – they vary in style, colour and tone…what a great effort!  Please send your designs to me by 31st March 2010. 


Geomechanics News June 2010
After such a fantastic December issue, a call for content has gone out for the next edition of Geo News. Our editors are waiting to hear back from you. Please send your ideas to Kate, kwilliams@tonkin.co.nz or Paul, paul_salter@urscorp.com

 
IAEG2010 Congress
Super Earlybird registrations for IAEG2010 close 31 March – you save $400 on the full registration cost! (Companies may take advantage of the super earlybird rate by making group registrations of 5 or more delegates and confirming the names of the delegates at a later date prior to 31 July).
