ISSMGE – New VP South America
Distinguished Colleagues, Dear Friends,
I regretfully accepted the resignation of Jorge Bonifazi as Vice President for South America a few days ago. This came as a great surprise to me but Jorge told me that he had to do it for personal reasons and I respect his decision. I will miss his valuable comments during our meetings and email exchanges. On behalf of the 19000 members of ISSMGE, I thank Jorge Bonifazi for his unselfish service to ISSMGE during his tenure and we all wish him well.
The ISSMGE Bylaws indicate that the choice of a replacement is the decision of the President. However, I elected to visit with three high profile leaders with intimate knowledge about South America National Societies. After these visits, I proposed to all the South America National Societies that Professor Terzariol be nominated as the next Vice President for South America and asked for comments with a deadline of 14 April 2010. I have received a good number of responses and all of them have been very positive.
So, after checking that he was willing to serve, I have decided that Professor Roberto Terzariol will be the new Vice President for South America for the period 2010-2013. Professor Terzariol comes highly recommended and I attach his Curriculum Vitae for your information.
Best wishes,
Jean-Louis Briaud
President of ISSMGE
