Queenstown Airport Runway End Safety Area

Hello Otago Members!

Unfortunately my planned site visit has gone to the wayside because of weather delays and loss of light.

However, we’ve got a replacement that plans to be just as exciting!

Lee Paterson of MWH has graciously offered to give us a presentation on one of their projects in Queenstown.  He’s going to to give us a breakdown on the design considerations and construction methods to construct a 45m high embankment in a river bed at the end of a runway.  It’s the the Queenstown Airport Runway End Safety Area!
