The origins of sensitive pyroclastic in New Zealand

Presentation by Jim Arthurs studying the origins of sensitive pyroclastic soils in New Zealand, focused on silty, air-fall deposits related to the eruption of the Kidnappers ignimbrite.


Field observations are related to laboratory testing environment including Atterberg limits, drained and undrained triaxial strength, and ring shear testing, X-Ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy to study the mineralogy and microstructure of the soils.


Place: BOP Polytechnic, Cameron Road campus.
