What’s on at NZGS?
Branch Meetings
The NZGS has seven branches that facilitate a range of technical presentations in the geo-engineering and associated fields, site visits and social events for local and national practitioners. Branch meetings provide opportunities for networking and technical debate.
Our branches: Auckland, Bay of Plenty / Waikato/ Hamilton, Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch and Otago.
Biannual Symposium
The NZGS organises a technical symposium every two years.
The last symposium was held in September 2008 in Auckland with the theme “Soil-Structure Interaction – From rules of thumb to reality”.
NZGS Sponsored Workshops
The NZGS is committed to continuing professional development and education of its members. This is in part achieved by sponsoring technical workshops lead by nationally and internationally renowned specialists. New workshop opportunities will be notified as and when topics and speakers become available.
Working Groups
Working groups are established to develop guidelines aimed at streamlining practice in areas in which new research is available, that may be technically challenging, or in which there may be a wide range of approaches. The objective is to present recent research and best practice in a form that can be readily understood and applied by practitioners. Download the working group guideline.
